On first trial these pens surprised me. Generally I have not been found of ball point pens, because I find they can be finicky and tend to crap out a lot making them a less reliable pen style in the long run… but they were so pretty, and so inexpensive ($2CND at Walmart) and I figured, “why not”…

The first time, in the Moleskine, they were surprisingly beautiful pens, even for the 1.2mm nib. The writing was smooth, the grip was just right, and they are PRETTY, what more could a girl want in a pen? So, given that they were a very useable ball point pen, I decided to give them the ULTIMATE TEST:

WORK

Again, I was surprised the first little while when I was using the pen (I chose the purple one, so the guys at work wouldn’t steal it off my desk). It wrote well, and didn’t tire my hand… which is really essential for an administrative day.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for the SRX to start skipping (you know, when you write and not all of what you write comes out onto the page, forcing you to shake the pen in frustration, and having to press harder and try over and over to get the words to come out) and becoming desperately unreliable. while the pen was still easy to write with, the fact that there was no way to know if I would be able to write everything that I needed to the FIRST time… well… it was disappointing to say the least.

So… despite originally impressing me and getting a 7 of 10… I have to say that the unreliability of these pens has forced me to drop my rating to 3 of 10…

I give these pens a perfect 10! I too bought them because of their inexpensive price and they were pretty. I have had these pens for over a year and use them everyday at work and home and I love them.

Fortunately for me, my ink never gives out on me. I chose to write with the blue one and even left them in my scrubs when I did laundry, thinking.. I’ve just ruined my favorite pen. But to my surprise it still works perfectly as if I had just bought it. Thanx SRX!

I am a nurse in a busy Dr. office and therefore write all day. I have been purchasing these pens for one year now and love them, WHEN THEY WORK! I will be in the middle of writing orders for the Dr. or a report and the pen will stop working inspite of ink still in pen. Great pens but need work.
