Major Update!!!

So… I’m feeling pretty excited right now…

it looks (to me) like the house has sold!!!..

The realtor called last night to tell me (since theEx is out of the country with the new girlfriend) that he had recieved an offer on the house that I still own with theEx. It was for a mear $10,000 LESS than we had it listed for, and I was ready to jump at the offer right then and there.

This would mean that MOST (not all) of the “marital” debts are paid off — the line of credit, my car, my student loans would be paid off… the only thing that would not be completely paid off would be the Visa.

Of course, theEx owes more than I do… HE, personally, owes $8,500 on the line of credit AND $700 extra on the Visa. And whatever else he might hold personally on cards of his own and other debts.

IF this goes through AND the car and student loans are paid off theEx gets away without paying ANY spousal support from then on. Now that I consider this fact, it might NOT be entirely fair… but there is the benefit that he will be out of my life ever so much faster…

So… yeah.

There is a chance that the debts are less than projected and that they might ALL be paid off. There is also a chance that there will be a bit outstanding that are left oweing (no more than a few thousand I would think) and my legal bills.

In the end if this does go through completely, I will be in a much better position from now on… I may likely have my car paid off so I don’t have to worry about that (and the loss of my income from not being able to get to my place of employment), and the student loans will be gone… TheEx will still have about $10,000 in additional debts on his side of the fence, but he will be released from $787/mth in spousal support as well… so that if he pays his bills he should be able to get out from under that in a few months’ time.

I may be able to start a life without debt very soon. Even a few thousand to the lawyer and Visa are managable, I don’t owe much on MY Visa (about $200) and I have savings and I will get a tax refund… and maybe in a few years I will have enough for a down payment on a house!!

For once things are looking favourable in this situation…

Now if only theEx WOULD get eaten by a shark during his Dominican vacation….

Oh come on, you think I still don’t think he should get a huge chomp from the Karma fairy after all this???
