mmm… tv…
March5
Uh oh…
All this talk about tv has really gotten me thinking about how completely disappointed in the tv situation I have found myself in for the past few months.
I don’t know how I survived.
Oh, yeah… I hung out on the internet instead.
But with the fact that it looks like my household MAY just be coming together in the next few weeks, I will likely want to spend less time hanging out online by myself all night every night… I have plans that will effectively attempt to put a more reasonable limit on the time I spend being anti-social online…
For one thing (one IMPORTANT thing) I am planning to move my notebook computer (MacBook, baby!) into my bedroom (once I find a corner desk, which I really SHOULD do sooner rather than later, because the kitchen table will NOT fit in my bedroom (laugh).
But the biggest reason is that I am SUPPOSED to be getting a couch and loveseat from theEx and I will need to make room in my living room to accomodate these pieces of furniture. I will be adding both these peices as well as a games table, a side table, and my needlework lamp.
I am REALLY worried that the couch won’t fit, just like my last couch didn’t fit. But I am hopeful (since it IS a smaller peice than the original couch). The effect will be dramatic… because I will have the old love seat (yellow overstuffed thing) and the full sized leather couch and love seat I have to move the craft shelves, the entertainment center, and most of my craft stuff around.
And this after I have junked a LOT of useless stuff.
I also still have the Kids’ computer to figure out what to do with in this scenario. But since they don’t use it (and I haven’t gotten it onto the network yet) very often I might put it into storage in the closet for a bit until things get re-arranged and settled.
The net effect will be that it will be more comfortable to be in the livingroom, with more available seating (no more camp chairs and cushions for the kids) and better night time lighting.
And that will mean that I would want to spend more time watching tv and doing my crafts in the living room, rather than hanging out online and feeling lonely in the bedroom all the time.
Keeping myself busy can’t be a bad thing, can it?
But I have also realized that the tv service that I have currently makes me very unhappy… I mean, it is included in my rent and all, and its all very nice that it is, but because of this fact I don’t have the ability to choose what I want to watch.
Which has prompted me to start looking at satellite tv options.
Most of the people I know, my parents, RGG, theEx, have satellite tv. And there are definate benefits to it — more choice, more flexibility in the programming I enjoy and which my children enjoy — and I am more than willing to pay for that at this point.
Only…
I have to get permission from my landlord before I can ever seriously consider getting the service. I’m not sure how well he (and his girlfriend) would respond to that.
And if they allow it (since I’d be paying for it myself) which service to get.
And then which package from that service.
I’m addicted to some HBO shows (blush)

If the couch doesn’t fit, just leave it on the sidewalk under garbage bags with a sign that says, “free, doesn’t fit in doorway” and it’ll probably vanish. especially right now since it’s too cold for damp.
